About the Event
The P.E.A.R.L. Institute, in partnership with the NYU Silver School of Social Work, is hosting this training dedicated to children, adolescent, and family social work practice, led by Professor Eva Lu, who has over 20 years of social work education and research experience.
The Sino-American International Summer Training Program began in 1991 at San Diego State University, focused initially on child protection services. After five years at SDSU, the program was continued at UC Berkeley focusing on welfare and domestic violence issues. Since 1998, the training has been conducted at NYU School of Social Work. The goal of this program has been to foster professional development and a deeper understanding of services for children, youth, and families.
All (20) trainees are front-line social workers from the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families. Courses in children, adolescent, and family social work practice include:
- Motivational interviewing
- Solution-focused brief therapy
- Individual session skills
- High-risk family management
- Crisis intervention and post-trauma therapy
- Children and adolescent mental health
- Agency management and evaluation
- Leadership training
- NGO fundraising
- Financial management and project development
