Media Collection Lindsay (Zhilin) Yu I'm Lindsay Yu, currently a junior at a high school in Pasadena, California. I left Wuhan to study in the United States in 2019. The freshness and culture shock of being a first-time visitor was a very unforgettable experience in my life. At the same time, in 2020, after the epidemic outbreak, I also received a lot of prejudice and radical remarks because of my birthplace, which made me germinate psychological support for minority groups. At school, I was the international student representative of an organization that addresses discrimination issues faced by minorities and races, the junior class representative of the international student leadership team, the vice president of the Chinese Christian Fellowship, and the mentor of the Freshman Program. I love who I am and am willing to help and psychological support to those in need. Culture shock is the pathway that everyone who comes to a foreign country will encounter, and as the one who has been through it, I'm happy to share my experiences and lessons. People should embrace cultural differences and, most importantly, be proud of their mission, identity and cultural background. Through PEARL, people learn to defend their pride and stand up to discrimination and prejudice.
