Media Collection Suhong Tan Suhong Tan is a recent M.S graduate from Lehigh University. She has worked with non-profit organizations to help vulnerable groups (children, low-income seniors, asylum seekers, and refugees). With empathy, motivation, and responsibility, Suhong has served voluntary services for more than 400 hours in Antigua & Barbuda, Thailand, China, and the United States. Media Collection Odette Pengqing Wang MCs & MA in general psychology, concentration in substance abuse counseling with over 1000 working hours in suicide prevention services. I have specialized training in psychotherapeutic in major depressive disorder (MDD), generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), bipolar disorder, childhood attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), personality disorders, and schizophrenia. I am also certificated in Gestalt therapy, dance movement therapy, couple therapy, and substance abuse treatment. I hold practical and academic experience in the role of mental health worker with extensive experience in establishing supportive, motivational, and therapeutic relationships with patients. I am passionate, and my dedication to improving people’s mental health would be unparalleled, especially for the communities of international students, teenagers, seniors, perinatal females, and LGBTQ communities.

Jiaxuan Wang Jiaxuan Wang is a current undergraduate student in Rutgers University majoring in Public and Nonprofit Administration. She has interned and volunteered with several nonprofit organizations and has been involved in community service around her University, which has given her a great deal of benefit and experience in fundraising and management. She has always wanted to make the community and environment around her better, and that is why she joined PEARL. She is passionate about multiculturalism, which is also part of her educational background. She is also interested in education and healthcare, and supports minority groups such as women's rights and LGBTQ community's rights.

Mei Qin Zheng My name is Mei Qin Zheng, and my pronouns are she/her/hers. I am currently a first semester graduate student enrolled in the Master of General Psychology program at CCNY, where my studies have encompassed a wide range of psychology-related disciplines. I am passionate about the biopsychosocial approach to understanding health and illness. More specifically, however, my interests lie in understanding the bases of normal and abnormal behavior and how we can go about integrating various treatment options and methods, whether it be therapy and counseling, medicine and pharmaceutical drugs, and/or practicing mindfulness and meditation. Furthermore, some of my other interests include child development, nutrition, and destigmatizing mental health issues and illnesses among Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) within the United States.

Rio Ruiyan Liu My name is Ruiyan Liu “Rio,” and my pronounces are she/her/hers. I’m currently a junior majoring in Film&Media at Emory University. I came to the U.S. to study filmmaking in 2016 and have made several student films. I’m also a creative writer and an independent student researcher who has done academic publications. I’m passionate about different cultures and groups, such as LGBTQ, Women’s Gender and Sexuality Studies, and queer study. By Joining PEARL, I hope to contribute to helping more international students. Meanwhile, I also wish to learn more from the professors and older generations.

Media Collection Carlyn Cowan Carlyn Cowan is Chief Policy and Public Affairs Officer of the Chinese-American Planning Council. She is responsible for developing CPC’s policy agendas, managing government affairs, and promoting community engagement at CPC. Among her previous experiences, she was a Senior Policy Analyst at the Federation of Protestant Welfare Agencies (FPWA), member of the NYC Nonprofit Resiliency Committee, Policy Analyst at the Mayor’s Office of Contract Services, and Development Director for Nourish International.

Media Collection Robert Davies, MD Robert Davies is a psychiatrist in private practice for 27 years in San Pedro, California. He is board certified in General and in Child and Adolescent psychiatry. He is a member of the medical staff at Providence Little Company of Mary Hospital in San Pedro where he attends to patients on the Bridges inpatient psychiatric unit. He also is Medical Director of Providence Little Company of Mary Home Health Care Services which includes psychiatric home health care services. He serves as a board member of The Los Angeles Trust for Children’s Health which has been in the process of establishing Wellness Centers that include provision of mental health services on the campuses of select schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District. In September 2015, Dr. Davies was elected by his peers at Providence Little Company of Mary, San Pedro Hospital, to the Board of the Providence Partners for Health, a physician-led and governed organization for clinical integration that is designed to advance excellent care by enabling independent physicians to collaborate with the Providence Health System in Southern California.

Media Collection Dr. Stella Yi Dr. Stella Yi is an Assistant Professor at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine, Department of Population Health, Section for Health Equity. Dr. Yi is a researcher focused on health equity and social justice for Asian American and other immigrant communities. Her specific content area expertise is on community-partnered and culturally appropriate initiatives focused on nutrition and eating, cardio-metabolic disease and the collection of disaggregated race/ethnicity data at the local and state levels. Dr. Yi received her Masters in Public Health in Chronic Disease Epidemiology/Social Behavioral Sciences at the Yale School of Public Health and her doctorate in Epidemiology from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Media Collection Yuhuan Xie Dr. Yuhuan Xie is a Board-certified child & adolescent and general psychiatrist in the USA. She is the Medical Director of Specialty Mental Health program at Asian Health Service, a part-time faculty member of Stanford University School of Medicine, and the owner of Resilient Children Behavioral Health Center. She has rich clinical experiences in inpatient, outpatient, and community settings. She has worked at private, not-for-profit, government, and academic institutions in the US, Singapore, and Canada. She has specialized training in psychotherapeutic and psychopharmacological treatments in childhood Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). She also has a strong background in basic science and clinical research.
