Cross-cultural social work training


In mid-October, NYU Silver and the P.E.A.R.L. Institute of New York held a two-day, cross-cultural social work training for social workers from Hangzhou, China, including the province’s Division Chief of Social Work, the Jiang Gan District’s Deputy Director General of Civil Affairs, and other municipal officials and community leaders. Associate Professor Yuhwa Eva Lu, who is also Founding President of the P.E.A.R.L. Institute, directed the program, which featured courses on Social Work History in the U.S. and Professional Development of Social Work in China; Social Welfare Systems in the U.S.; The Roles and Responsibilities of Social Workers in the U.S.; and Social Work Direct Practice in the U.S.
